The Competition
So, have people heard of the Foot Locker art prize yet?
First prize is $50,001 - which is $1.00 more than the Archibald prize...(australia/nz's top art prize) Yes, they did that deliberately just to annoy the bejeezus outa the art snobs.
And all you have to do is colour a sneaker using one of 8 templates supplied by the Footlocker people (they're low res at 72dpi in pdf format which is a bit of a bummer, but at least it keeps the file size down)
I've entered a couple so far (gotta be in it to win it!) and while I don't think I stand a rat's chance of actually winning, at least it's a fun way to kill the easter weekend.

Now all I need from people is anyone with a facebook account to go and click 'like' on them!!! I can see that this is already becoming a 'how many facebook and twitter friends do I have' competition rather than a pure talent competition, at least for the 'people's choice' award. Probably the easiest way to "like" the designs is to go to the main gallery page and select 'view all' on the bottom left of the screen. Then find mine and like them. For the moment they're close to the top so that's not too hard.
I'm going to continue to play and see what else I can come up with over the next few weeks. These are really just a first bash and me getting my hand into the design frame of mind. The "Rose of Gold" one was the last that I did after a few hours of mucking around with the other three and it shows IMO.
