Well
you
do
live
in
a
mind-bogglingly
huge
country
|
|
|
|
|
And within that, a mind-bogglingly remote city! I got some great perspective on that recently when I realised that the distance between Perth and Adelaide is around the same as between Tristan da Cunha and its nearest neighbour, St Helena.
And Tristan da Cunha is the most remote inhabited place in the world.
Your country is bafflingly enormous. (See also, the earlier stages of the flooding. The area flooded was the size of France and Germany combined (or Texas+Minnesota), but had a population of 200,000. The combined population of France and Germany is around 150,000,000.)
