Casino Royale can be seen as a reboot, mainly because it's telling the origin story of James Bond. However, the Bond series is odd, in that the movies started with Dr. No, which is smack-dab in the middle of the book series. Bond is already established as a character at this point, and just shows up on the scene doing his thing with no origin. Subsequent films follow from there, and Bond never really GETS an origin story in the movies in the first place until Casino Royale. So, can a series be "rebooted" if it never truly "booted" in the first place?
