When you have to accept the relationship you're in isn't right for you. He sounds much like my ex, who also couldn't stand me being better than him at anything, and constantly found ways to put me down to make himself feel better about himself.
No one deserves that - I thought I loved him too, but after three years with a completely different sort of man, ending it was the best decision I ever made.
I know it hurts now, but things will get better. You have the freedom now to find a man who doesn't feel threatened by you, and will love you and be proud of you, which is what everyone deserves.
I'm thinking of you - stay strong, get to know men as friends so you know what they're like before you get involved. The fact me and my fiancee were friends for years before getting together has been a really good thing, as I really like him, as well as being in love with him.
