My kitty's kidneys are failing too - she's on medication for it. But they think she has a thyroid problem too, as she's skin and bone and always hungry, but the medication for that would interfere with the kidney medication.
She's 18 though - so I'm just grateful for any time she has left really. She's been my cat since I was six though, so it's going to be awful and horrible when it finally happens - I'm dreading it.
I'm glad your kitty is getting better :-) 7 is very young for kidney problems.
