It was also a topic for one of the panels at Shore Leave 2009. We reviewed what we liked about the episode. We compared their depiction with actual Trek conventions. We compared their treatment of Trekkies to their treatment of other groups, like furries. (A Trekkie wrote this episode. A furry did not write the furry episode.) We sat there and recounted all the references we got. :-D
Also, a little tidbit... In the video where the guy is showing off his new vision for "Space Quest" and the crowd gets angry and almost violent with him, the guy who says "You suck!" is Ronald D. Moore, one of the producers for several Star Trek series. The "You suck!" line comes from personal experience. This was pretty much the reaction he got when they revealed DS9 to the fans.
