you see Ken, my head of dept. is looking to retire in the next 12 months. However he's been tossing up whether to do that at the end of THIS school year or part way through next year. It'll all depend on his finances it seems.
That's because he's been 'training' me to take over the year 12 course for the Uni entrance exams and to know the geography course in general inside and out for the past 2 years ready for him to retre next year. I was his 'heir apparent'... but once I got my permanency status there was no certainty that I'd stay at Como SC which is why he was looking to move his retirement up to the end of this year in ordert to keep me at Como.
Now though I'm posted to Lesmurdie which buggers up all his plans!
However he has to make his decision by the end of next week one way or the other. If he elects to retire this December then I have it from the Deputy Principal already that Como SC would be contacting the Edu Dept staffing PDQ and making as strong a case as possible to keep me at Como because that would leave them without an experienced geog teacher that knows the course AND knows the school and kids for next year! There's no guarrentee any of that WILL actually happen just yet - about a 5% chance at the moment - but it's nice to be popular!!!!
So, until I hear otherwise and to the contrary I am off to Lesmurdie SHS now on Jan. 29th 2009... but as I said, things may change...!
