CURRENT MESSAGE

Hmmm...
I didn't really do much more than listen to the radio, but I do have a song on my MySpace page that has come on several times on the radio, as well as on my page, so I've probably heard THAT more than any other song...

"Opposite Way" by Leeland. It's just what I need to hear right now. it's sad, it's amazing, it's heartbreaking and it's inspirational. I love it. I bought the whole CD. Great stuff, and this song is just the best thing I've ever heard of theirs.

I like when songs aren't just "la la la, everything is great!" I mean, I like those songs, but I tend to LOVE the ones that get a little deeper into things really sucking... Sanctus Real's "I'm Not Alright," Everclear's "Wonderful." I mean, those songs stick a little more to my ribs... Garbage's "Only Happy When it Rains."

Trust me, I'll sing the upbeat happy ones, and I love to just ROCK OUT in the car in traffic with people laughing at me, but those songs I like to listen to when I'm alone? A lot of the time, it's those songs with a little more... that's it. A little more.

It's not that they're BETTER songs... but, for me, they resonate a little more. It might help explain why "Nightmare Before Christmas" is my favorite movie... with "Lilo and Stitch" a close second, and the movie I recently saw, "Dear Frankie," right up there. I like to see the challenges of life personified. I like to hear a song about the hard times of life in addition to the good. I sometimes believe we have to know what the bad is to truly understand and appreciate the good.

And, this is WAY more detail than you asked for.... Leeland's "Opposite Way." :)
