Thomson Alcatel modems work great here. Perhaps we use a different product line here, though. Not to mention different firmware. They're among the most versatile and reliable modems I have out in the field.

I must admit I favor the 3com modems, though. Even lightning strikes don't break those, whereas all the other network equipment was pretty much dead when lighting struck.
