Yes, right now you can't have anything more complex than it will automagically generate from 2-3 colours. This isn't intended to be a permanent situation. I'll explain more about that later.

At the moment only logged in users can add colours to a name. However you do not have to then stay logged in for them to work - so if you're like me and ordinarily post as a guest, that won't be a problem.
And finally this is not the time to start asking for lots of coding things either.
