When my husband and I were in Florence we stayed at the sweetest Hostel. It was one of the nicest hostels we encountered. It was called Proconsola Rooms, I believe. It was right in the heart of town. Everything was within walking distance.
I do not know if they do private bathrooms. We were going as cheap as possible, but it was just a BEAUTIFUL room with a great location. :)
