The punchline to the joke is '"This gun is loaded with blanks," she said. "I had to beat him to death with the chair."' Anything after it is superfluous and doesn't add to the humour, just detracts from it by positioning the punchline earlier overall.
It's not that I object to "women are crazy, don't mess with them" in general - I'm a proponent of it being acceptable to make that kind of joke. But I felt that in the context of this particular joke, it was tacked on and really had nothing to do with it. I would have felt the same had the moral been "men are cowards" or "men are stupid for not realising the gun would be loaded with blanks".
