And what kind of crazy person designs a linear digital editing system? That's just... weird. I think I'd go insane, goes against my editing style completely!
Nice work on the video regardless. I like the use of the fade-in/out technique (I'm a fan of it myself) but agree with Sess that it goes on a bit too long. I think I personally might have stopped it around 0:00:35 when the little piano melody comes in. Also when it comes back at the end it doesn't seem quite in time with the music in places - I think they were shots of Sara. That said, I loved the jump cuts near the end with Gil moving through the room. That worked very nicely with the music.
I'd love to try my hand at a fanvid some time, but I think I'd get really annoyed by the pre-existing editing and not being able to hold shots where they've cut away.
(Btw, you have shown us some sketches before. Two as I recall, one of them was of Gil and somebody (Sean?) wondered what the first letter was of because you'd written the name in cursive.)
