When I moved into my first Apartment, I had a used bed from a motel that I bought for $7 . Prior to that, I slept on a folded up wool blanket on the floor. My next (current) one was purchased as a bedroom set from a friend's uncle when he retired and they were considering buying his house (they did). Paid $200 for the whole set. So, technically, I've never owned a new bed. Something I am soon to do, as that one is about worn out and outdated. But it was cheap enough at the time and fit the meager budget I had. The rest of the furniture is still that bedroom set, and likely will be for some time to come.
Single or married, starting out is an adventure.
