How
my
day
went.

OK, now that I'm a little more calm, here's what happened on the date of my return:
SATO (a travel office the military uses to reserve flights) was called up and a reservation was made for me the previous night. However, the supervisor I was working for in New Jersey called SATO up the very next day (the day of the flight) and canceled the reservation! And he didn't even bother to tell me about it.
So I arrive at the airport thinking everything's honky dory only to get this rude awakening about 2 hours before the flight takes off. Naturally, I'm making phone calls like mad to SATO and the supervisor to get things straitened out and my true command in Virginia to inform them of what's going on, as they were kind enough to provide me with a duty driver that would take me to my car in long-term storage.
About an hour later, everything's good, but what ho? I've missed the deadline for checked baggage, so I have to wait for the next flight out, which I really didn't want as I knew long-term storage would be closed by the time I got there. But, having no choice, I got the next flight out, which sucked even more because they were half an hour late arriving and, by the time the plane hit the runway, the runway was full and we had to wait about half an hour for FOUR other planes to take off before we could.
But finally I arrived in Virginia at around 6PM. I grabbed my luggage and headed outside, where I met the duty driver. He apologized for being late (having just arrived and the plane was scheduled to arrive at 5) but I told him his timing was perfect and we took off for long-term storage.
The assholes, as I knew, were closed, ending their day at 5:30, and we got there at 6:30. One more phone call back to my true command to let them know of the situation and the duty driver took me home. My command tole me they'd get another duty driver to pick em up the next day so i could get my car, which happened.
So I get home tired and a little miffed. To add to it all, previous phone calls to my phone and internet provider informed me that, by federal law, I have to wait 3 days to get my phone services reactivated, which is absolute bullshit (but I didn't say that aloud). They are, however, able to connect my internet, but on Saturday afternoon.
I had no reason to believe that I would have internet until then, but when I started my computer that night, I stumbled upon a wireless network! Which I am currently using at the moment. Hm. Do I really want the internet from the provider now when I can use this wireless one for free? Oh, the tantalization!
So now I'm at home and finishing up reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in anticipation of the last book being released tomorrow (for those not in the know, Mrs. Rowling like to make references to her previous books, especially the book before, so it helps to be familiar). I pre-paid for the final book back in April and have my ticket and receipt ready to go! Unlike other Pottheads (hehe) though, I'm not staying up until midnight to get the book. That's just stupid. I'd just wind up coming home and going strait to bed without reading a single word. So I'll be picking the book up at a more decent time in the morning.
