I got a shintaro ext, hdd enclosure and a seagate 250Gb HDD to go in it for my birthday
I connected everything all right, connected to the laptop, powered up, logged in, laptop goes through it's 'found new hardware' routine automagically.
but I can't see the new HDD at all, there's no new letter etc etc in win explorer.
I tried to reboot, turned the HDD off and on again, switched USB ports around, all the combinations I could think of - nothing...
When I had to install the 3.5" seagate into the enclosure box it said to make sure that the HDD was set to 'master' - which I don't understand or know how to do
It also said that the drive will need formatting -but I can't do that if I can't see the drive letter in the first place!!!!!
I installed the interce hardware ok -but it doesn't see the drive either.
I went to shintaro.com.au - they don't even list the product!
so, anyone got any ideas?
